View Full Version : Car Fun Day

I am trying to organise a fun day.
It goes something like this.
Everyone meets at a point.
A list of clues and and a questionaire will be distributed.
The clues point to a final destination.
And the points fom the questionaire work out the final champion.
The aim is to answer the questions and collect a few things on the way.
When we get to the final destination champions will be crowned and possibly prizes given.
Hopefully a masive BBQ.
There might be a small charge (promise it wont be too much)
And hopefully a charity donation.
At the moment i am looking for a few pulsar freakz to help me out organising.
If i get a good response a meeting will be held for the organisers to kick this puppy off.
If you are interested let me know

also reply to this thread if you are interested in coming alongor helping out in any way.

We used to do "Scavenger Hunts" in Venturers and Rovers. Eventually, they changed into "Sound Scavenger Hunts", where every team had a Tape Recorder. Then They changed into "Trivia Hunts", where the Teams had to answer a Questionaire, that the other teams made up.
I'll be in the Orgainising Part of it, if you like.
One Question is, will the teams consist or a Driver, Driver and Shotgun, or a full car-load?
The Benefits/Disadvantages are as follows:
Driver Only- Everyone get's to drive thier car around.
Driver & Shotgun - Shotgun can Navigate and Pick up "Clues" - faster event.
Full Carload - More social. More Arguments over which route to take, Slower event. Car's aren't as quick due to the extra 150kg in the back seat. Cars with worn springs (like mine) will bottom-out on Speedhumps.

Hey pplz,
If we're gonna donate 2 charity, another idea would be to get some sponsors involved. We could even get some t-shirts and stuff made up advertising the day with the sponsors and charity organisation(s) that we're donating 2.
Just a few ideas for all to think about.
Cheers,
Mark

IMnsHO, I think we should go for Driver & Shotgun, with maybe one Secondary Passenger. A Team of Three (3).
Driver: Drives (well, Duh)
Shotgun: Navigates
Passenger: Assists Shotgun and Provides Social Ambiance.
Also, another question we have to ask, is over what type of range will we cover. We used to travel in only the Dandenong Area (as in not outside 3175), and it used to take use 3hrs to answer 20 Questions. It also gets pretty boring when you drive up and down Mornington Peninsula Freeway 4 times to answer two questions. (Driving up MP Freeway once is bad enough :) )
I reckon, set an area which is reasonably familiar to at least one member in each team. I reckon Springvale Road | Monash Freeway | Stud Road | Maroondah Highway would be a good example. It's pretty well known by much of the group. and Whoever writes the Questions would have to be a Local.
Finally, what will we be scavenging? Information or Objects?
You can't fit Ronald McDonald in the back of a Pulsar, so nothing too big or too Illegal. (You can fit a GiveWay sign in the back of a Stanza/200B-SSS, if you're wondering).
I think Local Trivia would be good. Eg, Snuffy could get Trivia about Mitcham/ Wantirna, Dom and I could get Trivia about Dandenong, Mark could get Trivia about Glen Waverly/ Scoresby, etc. (In the above example)
Anyone got any other suggestions for Locations, Question Guidelines, or Team Consistancy?
