hey, i was just wondering, is it true that the nx-rs come with the same SR20 DE's but they have modified valves or sumting, and appaently they go abit faster?
is this tru?

err, no?
they have the same sr20, but they are supposed to accelerate faster and weigh more than an SSS though?

i always thought the nx's were a *little* bit quicker than the sss's because they were lighter?? they are pretty small cars, i dont think that they'd be heavier than a pulsar

I dunno, they have a lot of glass, chassis reinforcement and most are fully decked out with options.
But hey, you said they are faster, so I dont care :D

Ive had many arguments with friends over this and Nx's in general!
Also what engines do the normal NX's come with?

SR20DE...you may have heard of it?

The B11 NX Coupe was released in America as the Sentra and Sentra SE-R
They were released in Australia as the NX Coupe and the NX-R Coupe.
I Understand that the B11 was released with the SR20DE, the NX-R also having Sports Suspension and Electric Extras. Being a Coupe, it was lighter than the N14's, of the same era, so, therefore (in theory) faster and sportier.
The Question remains whether they actually were faster, and if there were any other differences between the NX and NX-R. I don't think you could get much faster than the SSS without improved Traction, however, so unless they came with LSD, they wouldn't've been much faster than a Pulsar SSS, or 2.0l Q, or 2.0l Ti. They were Front-Wheel-Drive. Someone else my be able to qualify these comments... a good source of info woulve be se-r.net

its the B13 chassis, i think the B11 is a N12 pulsar coupe sorta thing (like a 3 door ET pulsar), and the B12 is the Nissan EXA (in the US, a Nissan Pulsar NX).

Sorry, my bad - I meant B13.
The Exa, however is the KN12 and KN13, so in theory, the differences between an N12, and an KN12 Exa are the same as the differenced between an EN14 X1-R and a RNN14 GTi-R, whereas the B13, although similar to the N14 is a completly different model. IIRC, the B11 was the Pulsar Van (not released in Australia), although I might be wrong.

Ever looked at the dash of an NX? It s the same as a N14 SSS..
In fact the platform is the same... just a different shell....

the nx and the nx-r are the same cars, same engines, so on so fourth. the nx-r is abit heavier with all the abs and power windows and all that crap.
all australian delivered nx's came with the sr20de, but in japan and basically the rest of the world the were also available in the 1600

nxr has gtir/n15sss front brakes
tissue

correct
nx-r has the ad22vf(?) brakes
i think the dash is different between the nx and pulsar though, its halfway between a n14 and n15 pulsar IIRC.

yes, the nx/nxr has the exact same cluster (i'm not too sure about the whole dash) as the aus sss with the gauges being horizontal.
according to eauto:
the nx weighs in at 1130kg
the pulsar (sss/ti/q) weighs in at 1141kg/1111kg/1085kg/
when i test drove an n14 sss with extractors and full exhaust, and a stock nx (which i bought :D ) the nx felt quicker. but there are also many factors that could've influenced it, eg car and environment condition and me not being used to driving either car.

Would it be possible to use the lsd box from an NX-R cupe in a 2l n14 pulsar ?

i'll check when i get a chance (when i can be bothered)
am i right in saying that if i jack the front of the car up and spin one wheel the over will as well
tissue
28th August 2002, 07:52 PM
yeah, but it depends what direction the other wheel spins if you have an LSD or not.
Im putting my money on it not having one; James (PULSSSAR) wouldnt be searching all over the world if we did have one.

1991-1995 NX'x and NXR's all dont have LSD.
I checked on Redbook and none of them have it featured.
I even checked to make sure that they did say when a car had LSD, because for my car it was listed.

hey, i just bought an nxr, do they hav a diff exhaust to the sss???
i think its a fair bit quieter and seems to not rev as freely, maybe just my imagination, its deffinately quieter, but maybe its cuz of the exhaust leek i used to hav/?
anyone know if its the same or wat???
Stusse

Yeh its the same...

How are ya Steve?
Oh I hate it when this discussion comes up!!!
NX and Pulsar are extremely similar in many ways, I consider my nxr to be a pulsar with a different body??? ...ok a few differences I went into pedders to research springs a few months back and found the fronts are the same as pulsar's but the pulsar rears sit about 1.5 cm higher than the nx ones.
The American SR20DE's feature LSD's, unfortunately we weren't so lucky.
Ray , the exhausts are the same mate except for the bit the goes over the back wheel of the nx slightly diferent shape. Obviously because the B13 chassis is different in that area to an N14.
cheers,
Lance
