SR20DET in OLD Datsun Rally car

Funniest thing I have heard in ages is that my mechanic is wanting to put a SR20DET into a Datsun 240b to use as a rally car. In a word "insane". Cant wait to see how it goes.. how much do they weigh???? I think my little sister weighs more than a 240b. Anyway I told him to check out the forum so hopefully he'll join and keep us informed on his wicked progress.

thats not insane just plain common sense, one of the best performing turbo 4 bangers ever into a lightweight shell, I have seen this done before, there was a web site somewhere, now where da **** was it, will get back to ya. Have also seen an FJ20 shoehorned into one with a bit of firewall "modification"

I agree, not nearly as insane as you might think. Down here in Geelong, I know a guy who's put an SR20DET into an old Datson 1600. The thing does a 10.9 second quarter mile and has just been tubbed with full skyline running gear. I guess it's not really a Dato anymore but it looks like it and besides the bigass cooler hanging out the front and number plates JUSTRY, you'd never know.

No piccies sorry, but I'll see if I can get some the next time he takes out the burnout competition at Avalon Raceway. It's a pisser coz all you see is this humungous cloud of smoke and somewhere in it you can hear a bov valve over and over again. The thing is a monster.

they were gunna go for something crazy like and rb26 but the rotary will be smaller and a lot cheaper

My mate had a 13b Rotor in an old school mazda 808 72 model i think!
THis thing was nuts and i mean nuts! he never ran the 1/4 but said it would have done 10s! The smoke this thing produced was phenomenal! + at night his exhaust would spew flames so flames + smoke would look so wicked! YUM
