i own a N15s2 SSS and was wondering what to do to make it have more power and speed off the line. I currently just have a powerchip and a K&N filter.
Does an exhaust, extractors and stage 2 cams sound good, what should i go for and if anything else what should i be looking at

But please no turbo, that is my next car

yep thoose next steps sound good.
A full exhaust.... 2 inch Mandrel bent or 2 1/4 normal with extractors and a high flow cat will help!!

also with ur k&n filter u can get a full stainless intake setup...(check out some of Rex's pics) and make sure u have a nice cold air feed

advance timing to 17 odd degree's...(there is an article on that in here)..or get ur mechanic 2 do it.

then go for ur cams...i dunno how much this will cost u...

but if u have heaps of money and don't wanna turbo get some quad throttle bodies..(off a gti-r) these can give u upto 20kw..(don't hold me 2 that)...

also having a nice heavy clutch helps 4 launches off the line!

cheers!

What kind of result did you get from the powerchip? in terms of power and fuel economy?

You can pick up the GTiR 2nd hand quad throttles for around $500 and although they fit onto the sr20de alot of people tell me they are a real bitch to tune because you've gotta use a MAP sensor rather than AFM and also hardly any of the aftermarket ECUs are quad-throttlebody-friendly... I am still keen to use them eventually but still gathering more info as you can see... I will let u's know if I find out anything else

yeh hope to hear from you rex, im interested in the idea its just i dont know much about the quad throttle body in the sr20 and how it improves the power???

Yes I'd like hear what difference the powerchip made..
They claim large gains without the use of cams or even exhaust.

Some of us are a little sceptical about powerchip as they don't own an engine dyno and they don't display any evidence of ever having used one...
So we're wondering if they actually live up to their claims?

Keep in mind that 20kw is a huge increse in power on a small non turbo engine.

Most Bolt-on power up gear CLAIM xx kW increase power but how many specific when i happen? (rev range)

Firstly most of the xx kW increase figure are done on 'ideal' condition.

Secondly most of then increase very little power on the high rev range.

Thirdly most of the claim figure are not figures for SR20 engines! (especially powerchips!)

:Poke:

yeh my powerchip is alright, i can rev the engine out a lot more and it actually does have more power.
Before i got the powerchip i couldnt beat my mates vt commodore 5 speed, but now with the powerchip i beat himm all of the time

Thanks

See my sig below for all my mods...

The next logical mod for me to do would be headwork... There's a place up your way somewhere called JHH that advertise in Hot4s/FastFours for an exchange sr20de head and they guarantee up to 20% more power... Not sure how much it includes (pistons, valves?) for around $1000 (exchange, remember). You still need to fit it though (and remove your stock one).

I've got about 89-94kW @ wheels depending on who's dyno you want to believe. All up my current performance mod's cost me over $3000 (not all at once though!). Air filter was around $120ish, exhaust and extractors cost me $1200, and the cams and unichip set me back $2000.
