I realise that i don't have the technical skills to do this myself but am wondering ......
Is it possible to do an AWD conversion in an NXR Coupe???
Im thinking about doing a SR20DET conversion and this was suggested by one of my mates.
any input would be greatly appreciated as it has sparked my imagination.

Hi
A guy on the list has converted his SSS to AWD sr20det. So there is no reason why the NXR couldnt have the same thing done as both cars carry the same floor pattern. They just carry a different shell.
Biggest set back of this would be the cash involved to do the job.
Cheers, Steve

Hi there,
Yes is has been done. Heard a little while back of a AWD conversion in a NXR in Brisbane (sorry, forgot the name of the shop doing it). I have spoken to several places before about a AWD conversion to my Pulsar, and for some reason, they all looked at me funny?! The major problem is that the transmission tunnel has to be heightened for some reason, Im assuming to make way for the centre diff to something. It should basically be a straight swap, with the rear end from a GTiR bolting straight in on an N14 Pulsar. I was thinking that you'd probably have to get a custom drive shaft made, but I've since found out that the wheelbase on a GTiR is the same as an N14, so the stock one should be right there too.
I was basically advised by all of these shops to just buy a GTiR, as the conversion would cost around 10K by the time you count in parts, labour, engineering and all that. OK, if you've got that money to spend, but after all, we would be driving Pulsars if we had that much money. :)
Good Luck.

Im not replying with an accurate number, all i can say is your almost definately liiking down the barrel of atleast 2 grand. Youd Be better off having a lookat the Member Profiles, finding out whos dont the Bluebird conversion and PM'ing them. Send a PM to PULSSSAR, im pretty sure hes done the U13 conversion, also i think SSSXTC has done it aswell.
Best of Luck Dude!!

Check www.pulsar.org.au the tech info section. My engine conversion details are in there. I used the U12, same as U13, but slightly earlier car. U13 also had a front mount, U12 had a top mount. either way, you wont be using either in the long run, both are crap hehehe.
Save about $3k to $8k depending on what you use and who does your swap, etc.
