I want to put an exhaust on my sss but haven't decided if i should go cat back with a 2 1/4" exhaust or extractors with a 2 1/4" exhaust? Does anyone have figures (kw) on the difference between the standard headers and a set of extractors? If you have one of these options what has the power diffence been compared to the stock exhaust?

hey dude..i have got 2 1/4 cat back..with a stainless drift muffy and it makes stuff all performance diff..u just get the nice loud, deep note...this cost about 400.

if u got the cash go 2 1/4 pressed or 2 inch mandrel, get extractors and a high flow cat. and a decent muffy....don't forget to get a resonator or two..cause it will be loud...probably looking at 800 + depending on where u go and how much u pay for the extractors...mandrel bending costs more too.

powerwise...extractors and cat probably give u anywhere from 3 - 8 kw...avergage 5kw...

good luck hunting dude..

Well, i beleive that standard the N14 2lt puts out 72KW at the wheels. I have (as my sig says) a 2 1/4" with Hurricane extractors and a reverse flow muffler. I pushed out 78.8 at the wheel;s. SO there you go, 6.8KW gain with extractors and 2 1/4":rockin:

Can the standard headers with extended primaries be done with a 2.25 inch ehaust ?? This is what i am thinking of doing. Has anybody done this to their car? and what was the result?

I have origianl manifold, custom made twin secondary engine pipes extended to firewall (approx.) flex pipe original cat, 2 inch with 12inch res and Lukey muffler. Didn't dyno before, but have had it on two different dynos and both said 96hp atw.

I mainly noticed top end improvement (2.25" may give a tad more, but no one could justify the minimal gain for the extra noise, nor the expense of mandrell on a N/A engine). Its seems to pull harder and smoother particularly above 4000 to 6600 (where my max power is made). All up it cost just under $400.

so would you recommend this over a set of 4-2-1 extractors???

SSS models do have 105kW but this figure is at the flywheel. Most dyno figures are quoted as kW at the actual front wheels in this case. Stock they do about 76kW at the wheels.

I went to an exhaust place in box hill on saterday and got quoted $780 to get 2.25" pressbent system with a hyflow cat, extended primaries on std headers, resenator and a canon. Is that a reasonable price. Does anybody know any real good quality exhaust shops in melb?

Thier 4-2-1. I had the car dynoed again on the weekend, as last time i did it the engine was running too rich, i had the oxygen sensor remounted, its no longer running rich but i was happy with the run, very happy...............84.9KW at the wheels. I have a run sheet to prove it aswell.

It depends on the dollars you have to spend. If you can afford it, you will probably get a little more power from a custom tuned length mandrell bent set of extractors (not off the self type). However, me personally, I could not justify the huge increase in price to gain a little more power.

Yeah, i got a small CAI aswell going to the standard nissan Panel element aswell which probly helped it, its not huge, still it would have helped it at least past 80.
