Have recently acquired '92 Ti SR20. It tends to 'lean off' or hesitate on acceleration momentarily before it takes off, especially on the 2 - 3 upshift. Have had it to two mechanics, one cleaned the fuel injectors, the other had no idea. The problem is much worse when it's cold. Any idea?

Hmm seems to be a common problem with the sr20's :( Miine does it as well :bawlink:

Have a look at this thread http://forum.pulsar.org.au/showthread.php?s=&threadid=673&highlight=bogging

Yeah mine does it too when its cold, but not when warm, hmmm thats a bit odd, id suggest getting someone to check the sparkies! Thats what i did and it misfires less now, is that what you mean, like you accelerate then all of a sudden it just stops then starts up again?

nah, it doesn't really stop or anything, just hesitates, like there is no power for just a second, and then it kicks in an gets going. Just had new platnim's in too. Very irritating anyhow.

most sr20's do this. its very common. visit sr20.net for possible solutions.

Yes very common problem. Read the thread above no one has found a real solution yet although disconnecting the O2 sensor has seemed to eliminate the hesitation, indicating a leaning out of the fuel mixture but keeping the sensor removed is supposedly not too good. The only solution at the moment seems to be a new ECU.
