Ive has this posted before but didnt get a real respone

Basically if i let the compression out (ie engine braking) in any gear from 3000rpm down to 2000rpm with or without brakes my engine makes this metallic rattling and shakes a lil bit and then its fine, this doesnt happen on accelration, so could it possibly be a form of reverse pinging:confused:

Is this damaging or what? Cause if it is it has been doing it for ages so it might be an excuse to get a DET:gives:

thats weird mate? Sure theres no faulty connection with your gearbox and motor! How longs it been doing it? How many km's on the motor?

I think mine does something similar. When it's cold and I'm in say second and around 3000 revs, then back right off the accelerator, the engine grinds and vibrates badly. Goes away when it's warmed up. Also does it bad when reversing uphill.

Have had many mechanics and suspension guys look at it and throw my money at it to no avail. Engine mounts are fine, as are all front suspension components, throttle-body and injectors cleaned. WTF ! :Poke:

you sure its not just your exhaust or heat shield vibrating?

THats waht i was gonna say

Karl, when you got oyur exhaust done do you know if the guy chucked in flanges between you extractors and the cat? Cos i noticed my car at idle now makes a dirty rattle, and that was only after i got the flanges put in it (i gotta get it checked out)
But yeah, thats my tip.

Hey guys
went under today and checked it out, you guys were right the rock hit the manifold connection to the zaust and its a bit loose, so i assume the backpressure is makin it rattle
