just started to have probs with my car..
i start it, and the revs drop, and it goes to stall, did it a few tiems 2nite....
what could it be?
i have been mucking around with the INTAKE, could it be the sensor?

ive had the same problem. If it happens everytime the car is a cold start well then its the sensor, cause i had the computer check on my car and everything else waz fine and every time i stop at the traffic lights or anything the revs would go to like 4 and then just conk out. I havent got mine fixed yet but will do in the next few weeks.:(

Oh yeah and another thing is you shouldnt let your car warm up if its got fuel injection, you should actually just hop in and drive it straight away. If youve got the manual, it states it in there.

i had that problem too, it was just a sensor in the ecu , easily fixed...when i had the problem, it tended to conk out more at night...maybe i was just paranoid :)

cheers Joel

That happens on my brothers N13 SSS... how much does it cost to fix?

You've checked if it's something as simple as having the aircon onhaven't you? I knew someone who's car stalled when it was on and the car was just sitting at a set of lights. There was some automatic choke thingy tht wasn't engaging when the aircon was turned on to compensate the drop in revs from runnig the aircon.
Probably something else though

having the aircon on actually helps to alleviate the problem in my case...

i thought you shouldnt wait for it to warm up too much cause its an all-alloy engine? Just jump in and drive it straight away (but dont fang it)

I would also like an explanation on this. My car has hesitation problems (as discussed in the infamous bogging thread) that are significantly decreased if I let the engine warm up before I drive it.

Isnt the point of warming your car up got to go with getting the oil to operating temperature and therefure 'fluidity' (dunno if thats the word im looking for). WHich doesnt have much to do with fuel injection.

well i looked in the book and all i found was..
someting about not letting the car warm up too much and idle for long periods of time

so i guess maybe letting it sit there for a minute or 2 but not waiting for it to get the the normal temp. will be alright?

i hope this ain't true... oh shit! i let my baby sit there for a good 5 mins every morning :silly:
i thought warming it up was supposed to circulate and warm up the oil??

the manual probably states not to let it idle too much in regards to fuel consumption.

I can only see benefits from warming your engine-up I do it on cold mornings to let it warm up and also so its nice a toasty when I get in ;)

Hop in and drive straight away hey? Do that for a while and watch the lube problems rise!

HerSSS

Well that is how i do it, i warm my car up by driving it, keeping it under 3ooo revs until the temperature guage hits half way (which is normal) and then if i feel like bagging it i can.

And personally, that is what i have been told by many specialized nissan mechanics.

Just to let you all know that i am going to definetly follow this one right through and definetly find out which is the right way to warm ya car up, and also an explaination why aswell!!

So hang tight for now:thumbsup:

Ask 3 different mechanics and you'll get 4 different opinions....

Personally I jump in, start the car, give it a few seconds to idle and circulate the oil and then I start driving off gently. Once an engine is run in it's ready to be operated in its warm state, when it's cold the tolerances will be larger and you'll get more blowby etc. When the engine's warmed up then I fang as required, but while it's cold I stay below 3k RPM and use light throttle.

depends on my mood.... if im in a rush jump in and om off.....

if not ill jump in give it about 40 secs to warm up then im off

if its EFI im pretty sure you dont need to warm up TOO long but just enuf to get everything up and running.......

so i have been told by my mechanic :P

Very important to warm your car up, efi or not. Its a known fact that most engine damage happens in the first couple of minutes after the car starts, as many people take off straight away. Overnight most of the oil in the block trickles down to the bottom and it takes quite a while for it to recirculate and properly cover the internals.

Hey there guys! Some friendly advice! I use castrol magnetic oil and i find my car warms up a lot better cause the oil is more evenly spread thru the engine rather than all just droppin to the sump! Hehehe i should get a nice commission from castrol, oil refining bastards!

back to the topic.

does anyone have any ideas regarding the stalling problem, because I also have stalling problems mainly just when the engine is cold.
