Hey Guys,
Just wondering if anyone has done quad throttle bodies on their SR20DE engine. I was talking to a friend of mine and he told me thats the best thing to go with out turbo chaging the car.

Thanks =)

someone here has a picture of them as their Avatar - they are the absolute best modification that you can do to an N/A engine.

the cost for a set of them is $1400 alone.

But remember the important thing - you don't have an airflow meter anymore - so you need an aftermarket computer to run them - add another $2000 to that figure.

If you did the basics to your car then added the above 2 mods - and didn't run a 13, i'd be round to slap you in the head

new - i wasn't aware that the gti-r quads fitted the SR20DE (but i may be wrong).

you can spot them easily enough - they look like 4 trumpets sticking out the side of the block.

i was going to get them for my swift - but no one has fitted them in Australia - i didn't want my car to be the guinea pig for everyone else.

hrmm.. thanks guys.. yeah my friend said that the throttle bodies come from the GTiR engine... i think i can source one out some how coz i know the guys from pulsar parts and pulsar specialist here in adelaide.

just the computer part im worried about as I already have a Haltech E6H but i dont think that is suitable.. not 100% too sure but if so i can get a microtech or motech easily....

i want to do this conversion but not sure who has done it before

Yeah, the quad throttle bodies came on the GTiR, but I do not believe they will do much, other then give better throttle response.

Read this thread.

But in the USA there is a custom intake manifold that makes power:

just got an email back from speed technology and this is what they said

Increase is normally around 15%. the induction system is normally included
with other modifications
to get best results when the standard induction system is holding back the
improvements made to cylinder head cams and
exhaust. Total cost installed with a hawk engine management system is around
$5000.00 including dyno tune.

It would be just as cheap to buy a gtir engine and get it installed, plus there is more scope for power up with a turbo, i got quoted 3000 for the engine and ecu/loom from a gtir..mmm tasty

iagree with the turbo conversion
there is only so far you can go with the standard engine!!
will the gtir engine bolt staight in to the stock gear box though

Sr20DE fits in no worries, and the GtiR isnt' much different . .
U12 cheaper option, no quads though . .

Youd be suprised podgesss, they quoted me 2500 for a u12 with loom and shit and 3000 for gtir, and the gtir has a bigger intercooler and arguably more scope and gains for basic modification! I think cause with the new import regs prices are going haywire! Its a ****** pain!

Your right. Quad throttle bodies will not do shit all for your engine unless already highly modified.

Your engine would need to be running at least 10.5:1 compression, bored/honed, cams, headwork and more to be able to take ANY advantage of better breathing mods from the intake.

Rather than spending the money on that, spend it on either a set of good CAMS, or some really good headwork.

Leave quad throttle bodies until LAST.

The GTiR bodies will not fit on the DE unless the throttle bodies are modified to suit the block, even then, the ports do not match up properly. You could modify it to suit however it would be so much easier and cheaper to just get the GTiR head as well.
