I just bought a stock '98 model SSS, and was wondering what should i perform as my first mod.

Some people tell me get exhaust than the power chip.
How much gain can i expect from these mods?

How big exhaust should i get?

And also is it possible to get around 130-5kw without resorting to turbo?

Thanks ;)

the only way you'd be able to reliably get 130kW without resorting to a turbo is by resorting to VVL: a sr20ve motor like mel (miss nismo : www.missnismo.com ) has done.

apart from that, a decent sized exhaust (2.0" - 2.25" - 2.5") and a high flow cat are probably the first mods, followed by a cold air intake made from some kind of 3" heat-proof flexible pipe ducted to the stock airbox with possibly a k+n filter.

in my opinion a power chip wont give that much gain considering the cost of it, best to go for other things first and add it on last so you dont end up paying to get it remapped.

id go suspension first
then exhaust
then cams and chip

dont get the chip till u have all of ur mods cause they customise it to suit the mods

rich and mikeg prob have more than 130kw at the flywheel with a sr20de using aftermarket cams and chips... miss nismos sr20ve puts out over 140kw but is not necessarily faster than the sr20de's

dont go larger than 2 inch exhaust unless you are planning to get some serious cams... you will lose too much bottom end and not gain much top end over a 2 inch

the chip in my opinion is not really worthwhile unless u got some serious mods cause in that case they can alter the ecu to suit ur new engine

you got any data to back this up dude ?

i went for a 2.25" system in mine, and i know of people who have gone for 2.5" systems and all it's done is help the bottom end.. i know mine is a lot gruntier in higher gears down lower in the revs up hills now..

from dyno day in sydney they found that the best ones all had 2" zorsts... and many ppl will say the same thing -> that theres no point going over 2"

this is all from comments from other ppl tho... 2nd hand info i dont even have a zorst yet so i wouldnt know from personal experience

it is also a fact that if your exhaust is too large on a n/a car then you will lose a lot of bottom end... what is defined as too large for a particular car is debatable tho

its wierd that you should get any more bottom end power from a larger exhaust tho as basically each zorst is designed for a particular optimum rpm... i believe the pulsar one is most optimum at just over 6000 rpm... a larger zorst should have a higher optimum rpm but as you shift it up there will be losses lower down
