View Full Version : Stolen Stereo
new N13

Hi, this is my first post...I recently had my whole stereo stolen from my car...I was so pissed off!!!
I then sold my car and bought a N13 and just put on a muffler with a 3 1/2 dumped tip.
I was wondering what kind of stereo set up would be good in the pulsar... I want to put in 2x12" 800w Dual Voice Coil Blaupunkt Subs in the rear as I had a single sub the same in my other car and it cranked. What way should I face the set for max bass and would a ported or sealed inclosure work best?
As for the front set up i wanted some splits for around $300 mark and a good quality head unit...
My last amp was a AVC 4x150watts and was very powerful! I haven't got alot of money to spend at the moment but around $1,500 mark is in my range.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

install your 2 12s in a sealed enclosure with the subs facing the hatch (for max bassloading). Get some nice splits and headunit and use a separate amp for the splits and a bridged amp for the subs. Maybe someone esle can eloborate further, these are just general things ive picked up while doing my own.

Hey There,
Rex is pretty much on the mark.
Sealed box & face it backwards. make the box so it fits snug to the sides of the boot. As for amps, depends. I recomend to get a 4 channel amp & 8 Ohm DVC subs, run the subs of 2 channels bridged together & The splits off the other 2. The only reason I say this is later you can upgrade, get a digital amp, run the subs off that @ 2 ohms ea. ( if Dual Voice Coil) & then bridge 4 cannel into 2 on your 4 chan amp & run the splits off that.
Anyway, choice is your, I recon other people should put in their 2 cents aswell as then you will have more options & more configs to think about.
Anyway

Well i agree with chris that would be a great way to start off if you know how to do it i've got 3 12" Fusion Subs with a similar setup and they go pretty hard but try different way for the setup you might find a particular way you like it for bass and great sound.
Also i'm interested to hear how the Blaupunkt subs go anyway just don't be afraid to try things with your stereo:thumbsup:

8ohm DVC subs will most likely not work as most cheaper bridged 4 channel amps won't run in a 2ohm bridged load... Get SVC, run them parallel to give the amp a 4ohm load, then u won't melt anything!
Does the 1500 budget include the cost of those blaupunkt subs?
As for $300 splits, can't go past the Hertz HSK165's, very nice, cheap and will perform well!
but for that price range, u'd definately have to go the 4 channel amp option, a 4x100wrms Jaycar or the Clarion Vnet4100 would be fine... cheap and effective

Sorry bullion, I think you may have misunderstood me.
If you have 2 x 8 Ohm subs in parallel( the 4 ohm DVC's wired in series), you are presenting the amp with a load of 4 ohms.
When bridged, it has a total impedance of 2 Ohms which is stable on most amps these days. So... (on a 4 chan amp) 2 channels bridged for the subs & the other 2 for the splits.
Does this make sense?
Alot of digital amps are stable at .5 Ohms, which means you can run 2 x 2ohm subs ( 4 ohm DVC's in parallel) in parrallel to make a load of 1 ohms. I dont even think you bridge class d amps, but if you did, it would make a total impedance of .5 ohms which would be stable on high current digital amps.

Sorry, thought u meant he had DVC 8ohm subs... which is what u said, but he has 4ohm DVC subs, wired in 8ohm... ooops, my mistake :) So yeah, ur right...

gday
i take it the blaupunkt subs ur talkin bout are the 12" Velocity subs?
if this the case i have another box option 4 u :D
one of my mates bought one of these subs (ibeen buyin blaupunkt for years good shit, my sub and amps first thing i bought not blaupunkt) and we put it in a huge box i got lying around bout 4 ci which is bout 110ltrs. huge ported box for single 12. it hammered made huge boomy bass. but wasn't too clear. we then built a single bandpass box which for those who don't know is basically 2 boxes in one with the box the sub fires into is sealed and the box behind the sub is ported. this thing is insane....it hammers so hard he got a VS station wagon and it is really loud. don't know the dimentions off the top of my head but yer....that another option for boxes bit harder work but i recomend it.
as for ported or sealed, if u got the room i recomend ported....u can get more bass from lower power because the cone doesn't have to move as much to create the same amount of bass as a sealed box, because of the bass that comes outta the port (hell that is confusing but i can't think of neother way to explain it :D)
i'm getting a new box built for my sub (12" MTX Thunder8000) by a dude from MTX designed specific for my sub and car so i'll let u know how that sounds....it is a ported box.
as for amps i agree with the above.
splits....pay alittle more and u could get either kicker impule or MTX thunder 6000 splits.....similar speakers. i got kicker impulse and they sound really really good handle fair bit of power
oh...as for the overdrive subs...steerclear of those.....they have no bottom end....heard a set of 2 12" in a lancer.....my mates 12" velocity was heaps louder in the bottom end
anyway i sed enuff
sorry for the essay :D
but that my 2c
