Hi all.
I've had a bit of bad luck with my car lately. Someone tried to break in the passenger door. All they succeeded in doing however is busting the lock and now it has a habit of dangling out its hole. Also somebody somehow poked a hole in my rear left-side brake light and the whole light fitting needs to be replaced. My car model is a 1990 N13. Where can I find a replacement light fitting and for how much? I've been checking eBay but the only ones that seem to come on are for the earlier model with segmented lights. Also where can I get my lock fixed and for how much? Right now though the light is more important as the lock is so busted there is no way of getting it open (Lets just hope no-one attacks the other side...)

your best bet is look around and calling the wreckers. and for a lock get a aftermarket set from autobarn, they are pretty good solex make good aftermarket locks. and they are pretty easy to fit up!

Cheers, been thinking of Solex locks, and it might be my cheapest option at the moment. I'm trying to save for a new car at the moment so I'm trying to avoid spending too much on my current one, but solex will probably be cheaper.

Still no luck finding a rear light. The rear light problem has been bumped up a notch as one of the globes has gone, basically need a whole new light fitting now, there are some langley stove-top lights on ebay but I don't know if they would fit and the last set sold over over $300. Argh, this is rediculous! BEFORE I lost the light there were millions on sale, now there are NONE!!!
One thing though, I think the 90 model was different from the 89 model light since ones I have seen for sale seem to have a different indicator fitting, or are all series 2 rear lights the same?

Solex locks will cost less than what Nissan will charge for a new lock and 2 keys :p Wreckers though you might get lucky..

yea the wreckers down here don't have much to offer atm. the solex locks are the best i reckon, as the for lights if you have a hatch the langley lights won't fit, but if you have a sedan you'll need to get a astra beaver panel or ganish for the lights to fit.

Thanks for the offer, I've got one off ebay though (First one to appear for my model on there in 5 months).
Curse Nissan for making so many damn variants of the lights tho'. Something interesting is apparently certain series 1 lights are supposed to fit as well...
Oh it was a hatch left side as well, will let you know though if anything goes wrong with the ebay deal.

N13 Hatch Tail lights are different from S1 models to S2, but both can be fitted.

Actually I found out there are some variants that have different positions of the white reversing light, some had it in a corner instead of in the middle. Still, the new one is in and working. Getting the old one off was fun, the old adhesive somehow was still sticky! All thats really left now is to get that lock either fixed, replaced or just stuck back in properly.
While I'm here though, I don't know if I'm allowed to ask this but how much would a stock Pulsar Q sell for these days with a private sale? I'm looking at getting a Honda Civic. I do like the Pulsar but its a hand-me-down and I really feel the need to buy a car thats my own, not one passed down, but if private sales are under 2k or something I'll just trade in or something. Although I think my custom interior work might lose it a bit of value (I'll have to post some pics, it looks pretty nice inside now!

yea your lookin at about 2-3.5k depending on k's and condition of the car! mostly go for under 3k...but keep in mind that the n13's are cheaper to maintain then that of a civic. a civic and pulsar are really about the same unless you opting for a newer model, but then again you'll be pain thru the nose if something goes wrong!

Lol, yeah I've heard Honda's are more expensive for parts, I'm hoping for a 96 model. The trouble I'm facing at the moment is that I can't get personal finance owing to being a student on centrelink and part time work (despite having a good amount of disposable income) so I need to try and get a bit of money together, then sell my car, then buy the new car. With any luck I might be looking at doing something before Christmas though, but then I'll want to wait till after Christmas for the prices to come down :p.
So looks like I'll be stuck with the ol' Pulsar for a while longer. The good news is a friend of mine will be looking for a car around that time and is interested in my car for about 2.5k, so hopefully everything will come together in a zen like fashion.
