Hi guys, after getting my light fixed, swapping my damaged passenger lock with the hatch lock and replacing my internal lights, getting rego and replacing ignition leads, now it looks like my damn alternator is going. I've had the problem of my amp/ecu/fuel light flashing on every now and then for nearly a year but it suddenly got worse the other day and I fear the alternator may be on its last legs (That IS the sign of the alternator going, right?) Anyway, does anyone have a spare or know of any in wreckers etc and how much? I want to avoid buying a new one as it costs a lot but if I do, what will fit my car and for how much? I'm selling my car to a friend soon so whilst I don't want to spend heaps on it I want to make sure its in good order for them.

Mucho appreciato the helpo guyso!

Is this a question or a WTB?? If it's a question then I will gladly remove the WTB from the title, if it's a WTB it needs to be moved to the correct section and edited to be clear and concise...

Cheers

Its kind of both I just wanted to keep it local is all but please move it if needed. Basically, if this IS the sign of the alternator going, and there is no way of fixing it, its a WTB.

Try turning the key to the on position. If the battery light is on then its a good sign. If it's not on then there is every chance the system needs looking at... It's possible you could just have a problem with ur cluster - if it's concerning you a lot then maybe take it into an auto-elec and they can check it out for you for a minimal fee if anything...

If the AMP/ECU/Fuel warning indicators are showing it means your alternator is basically dead. If you continue to drive it eventually the battery will run flat.

You could try getting it reconditioned from an alternative to paying for new.

Yeah been thinking of doing that thanks, where abouts can I get it reconditioned? The lights don't stay on permanently but flick on every now and then and its getting worse.
