OK, final details for timings and route.

We'll be meeting at BP Coomera (opposite Dreamworld) at 12:30pm, head off at 1pm. Will be heading south on the highway and taking the Mudgeeraba exit. At the roundabout at the top of the exit, hang a right on to Robina Town Centre Drive. At the next roundabout, turn left and head along Railway Street which turns into Franklin Drive and the Gold Coast - Springbrook Road.

This route covers some of the same parts as the last GC cruise, however the parts we are redoing are well worth it and the best way to get to where we need to go. From here, follow the Gold Coast - Springbrook Road up the mountain. There are several one lane bridges on the way so be careful. At the top, turn right in to Pine Creek Road and head down the other side of the mountain, turning left at the T-intersection on to Nerang - Murwillumbah Road. Not far up this road there is a rest stop on the right called the Numinbah State Forest Park. There is a sign 300m before the turn off to let you know its there. This will be out first rest stop, and give people a chance to catch up and our brakes to cool down.

When leaving the park, turn right and continue out Nerang - Murwillumbah Road. Depending on what people want to do, we can visit Natural Arch with is about 10 minutes up the road from the park. This will be decided on the day. After the Natural Arch turn off, the road cuts back to one lane, with dirt of each side to allow for passing. These sections are only small, and being as there is very little traffic, you can normally get through these sections without putting one wheel on the dirt. Continue out along this road for a fair way. We will stop at a small convinence store on the right as we get down further into NSW (yes, we're going south of the border), which should prove to be interesting as we will probably double there profit for the week.

Continue heading south along Nerang - Murwillumbah Road until it runs out at the T-section with Tomewin Road, at which you need to hang a left. From here, we follow this road back into Queensland. This road runs into Currumbin Creek Road, at which you turn left. Follow this road for a while, until the end of the overtaking lane, where you need to turn left into the Tallebudgera Connection Road. Follow this road up the hill and down the other side until you hit the round-about with the small shopping centre and a man on a penny-farthing bike. Turn left and grab a park in the carpark.

Turn left when leaving the shopping centre and head out alone Trees Road. At the end of a 100m straight streach of road, the road forks, with Trees Road heading off to the left. Follow it to the left and up and across the top of the the huge hill. Just before a sharp right, you'll need to take Syndicate Road which branched down to the right. Follow this twisty section to the bottom T-section and hang a right, over the couple of one lane bridges and to the park on the right hand side.

That basically finishes the cruise. All depending on how long we take stops for will depend on how long it takes. There are a good couple of hour driving involved, so take a pillow to sit on Neill. The final park has electric BBQs, so if everyone is keen, we can do that.

I did the drive today, and I must saw I had a huge smile on my face when I'd finished. There's some real challanging roads in this cruise, some great scenery and lots of fast sections. There are a few corners that can catch you off guard, so make sure you brake early if you cant see where the road goes.

Should be a really good day. Hope to see you all there!
Andrew

sounds good andrew :)

i'll do my best to be there.. i also expect to have a cb radio by then, will anyone else be bringing one?

nance, i wont be able to give you a lift i'm sorry.. will be on the gold coast the night of the 28th, so wont be in briz before the cruise.

andrew - is it possible to set a meeting point (or even just a pickup point.. pull in so i can grab onto your tail) somewhere further south ? say at robina somewhere ?

Dan - no probs. For those who'd like to meet up further south, we'll have a final RV point at Shell Mudgeeraba (same one as the last GC cruise) at around 1:30pm. This will have to be a quick pick up and go, otherwise we're going to loose too much time. Doing the drive the other day, I used less than half a tank, so there should be no fueling problems.
Unfortunately, my trip metre had died, so I cant provide distances between turns and stuff, but I will make up a shorter version that ya'll can download.
Just on a side, looking at the Willowbank event schedule, that night there is the 6th round of the Fours and Rotors Shootout. If we made the starting time for the cruise a little earlier (say an hour or so) would you guys be interested in heading up to Willowbank for a few drags? A few people have mentioned to me since Drag Day that they wouldn't mind having a go, and I'd love to run mine again now my new clutch is in. Please let me know what you think, as I am keen if you are.
Cheers.

Hi again,
Great to see everyones interest. Should be a great day. So what does everyone think about heading up to Willowbank afterwards? Should be good from some races with some other fours and each other. If we can get a group together, I "MIGHT" be able to arrange a discount. So let me know what you think and if there's enough interest, I'll make some inquiries. Just to let you know, the prices are $28 to race which includes entry for driver and one other or $13 for spectators.

Point form directions are here. AJ

Makes it a little easier now just in case all you speed demons:devil: race off without me while I just drive like a nonna cause I'm on good behaviour for another year....:bawlink:

Gotta love 92kms in a 60km zone... Nearly ran the stupid pig over... Not as good as Lauren's effort though...

Good to see everyones interest and I look forward to seeing you all there. Looks as if we have enough interest in the Willowbank run, so it will be a goer. Dont forget to bring covered shoes, long sleeve shirt, long pants and a helmet. Pricing is $28 to race and includes admission for driver + 1, spectators are $13.
For those who are working, you could either meet us at Willowbank, or meet us on the way back down to the coast for the nights cruising. Those who aren't coming to Willowbank but are staying on the coast for the nights cruising, well catch up with you on the way back.
If at any stage you get need more info or want to know where we are, please feel free to give me a call. If you dont have my number, please Private Message me.
Thanks again.

Hey guys,
I'm a new member living on the goldcoast,
I'm currently driving a 94 mod 1.6lx limited pulsar.
I was wondering if there would be anywhere that I'd be able to meet up with u guys this weekend whist your on your cruise to get some information about the club and a sticker, www.pulsar.org.au.
Thanks for your time,
Joel Dening

Joel,
If your intending to come along on the cruise, just meet us at either of the 2 meeting points listed on the directions. This text file is attached again to the bottom of this post for anyone who's missed it. Otherwise, we will pretty much be on the go from start to finish so it might be a little hard to meet up somewhere. However, we'll be back down to the Broadwater Carpark on Saturday night, so your most welcome to meet us there. Will probably be there around the 10pm mark, all depening on what happens at Willowbank. Please feel free to come along if you like.
Cheers.

yeah, im comming on the cruise, cant make it to willowbank now, hey is it the bp next to dreamworld, because you said opposite, meaning the other side of the road???

arj_y2k
25th June 2002, 08:48 PM
Its the big BP servo on the OPPOSITE side of the highway to Dreamworld. That means if you coming south, take the Dreamworl exit, hang a left at the roundabout, go straight through the next roundabout, and turn in the servo's back entrance about 100m down that road on the left. It sounds a bit confusing, but it'll all make sense when you get there.
See you there.

Joel,
This cruise will finish up around the 4pm mark, all depending on how long we take as stop, etc. Can I suggest that everyone has a bit to eat before they come or that the BP before we leave, as there is sweet FA along the way. All depending on how your old man is about your driving, you might consider leaving his home. We normally keep a fairly brisk pace up (ie. above the speed limit).
Just a final word of warning, there is a section in the more remote area that is signed as a 100kph zone - dont even try to stay at 100, this area is fairly twisty and there are only a few sections where you can actually hit 100 along it. This is good, as you dont really have to be worried about the cops (actually, I dont think most of these roads have ever seen a cop car, but there's always the first time. For those coming to Willowbank, dont forget your safety gear as previously mentioned - they wont let you race if you dont have it. Also, dont for get to take some warn clothing, as it gets very chilly very fast other there once the sun has set.
Looking at the forecast, it should be fine, with a max temp of 18 deg. Should hopefully warn up a little more than that.
Look forward to it, hope to see you all there.
