There is a big thread on this already mate. At the end of the day it came down to personal preference... I dont like Shell because I always hear about the human rights violations they go through while processing their oils.. I usually try to use BP.

There was one thread and one member dynoed shell v's BP the BP turned out better only just but really it makes no difference. They dynoed different days there could of been some heat soak ect plus petrol changes from batch to batch. Anything from the top end petrol is pritty good like vortex, ultimate, v power, 8000 98 octane petrol is fine.

I actually saw a fuel shoot-out on Fox TV last year...

They tested BP, Shell & another (can't remember) on three different vehicles... Toyota Corolla; Ford Falcon and Subaru WRX...

In all cases the Shell fuel gave more power - especially with the WRX...

Been on Shell since and also I shop at Coles so I use the 4 cents discount voucher...

BP/Shell/Vortex all feel the same powerwise for me. I use Vortex 98 though, gives me better economy.

If you have a stock car theres no diff between all the 98 octane stuff.

If your into performance tuning however - and giving your motor a full tilt the results above are a great read.

haha, me too. My N15 seems to run well on Shell, I've filled up with it in all of my cars. I've run it on BP, didn't notice any difference. It doesn't seem to like Mobil or Caltex as much. This is of course all 98-octane. I've once had to fill up on 10% ethanol fuel too and noticed no difference.

I've run shell, mobil, bp constantly and noticed no difference between them. As long as its 98 and a mainstream brand i have no problems running it. Maybe minor differences between them but at the end of the day if somebody put one or the other fuel in your tank and didnt tell you i dont think you'd notice anything different.

Anyway, I favour bp and mobil, but only because for ages shell didnt have 98 octane in SA. Whatever's cheaper i'll buy.

why would it seriously matter, if you do get more power it would be a matter of 2-3kw which is like useless, or if it gave better economy im sure it would'nt be that much better, but if it is welll let me know.

    my very gay 2 cents.
